Update - 17 March 2008

We are now 2 weeks away from the end of this financial year and the end of quarter 4 activity.

So how are we doing?

Against our key products we are -

Credit Card - 80% against target - Keep pushing on the applications particularly around the great use of our card for overseas customers. Again on Sunday on "It
pays to watch" - Martin Lewis was once again celebrating our card as the No1 card for overseas purchases!

Car Insurance - 90% against Target
Home Insurance - 105% against Target
Great performance keep the conversations going around our great customer offer of £100 Cash back if they take out both Car and Home Insurance.

IAS - 94% against Target
We have a great opportunity here with the fragility of the financial markets to really promote this great product as a safe and reliable savings vehicle.

Telephony - 175% Target
We have done amazingly well with Home Phone this year - Many thanks for all your efforts. We are 6th out of 61 BDM areas in Community a superb effort. I know that the take-up on Broadband has been difficult but keep the conversions going around Home Phone and make sure that you also introduce Broadband into the conversation and the sales will come!

Travel Insurance - 89% Target
This has been a tough product for everyone this year. Across the 9 BDM areas we have the highest targets and we have delivered the highest number of Policies, so if we can hit the 90% mark then I think we would have had a good year.

Travel Money - 150% against Target
What can I say! - An amazing year we have blown the target and every other BDM area. Thank you for all your efforts. Keep the focus on this key product, as historically the 2nd year of Travel Money on Demand can be a difficult year to maintain the momentum.

And Finally!
As many of you will know by now, a new structure is being introduced from the 31st March, this means that I will no longer be the BDM for your branch. Further details will be coming out to you shortly.

Naturally I am disappointed to be moving on at this time. However, I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the wonderful support you have given me over the last 18 months. We have made a significant difference, and have clearly demonstrated that as team of Subpostmasters - Team 4107 was simply the best! - Good Luck and Keep up the Good Work!

Update - 25 February 2008

Countdown - to 3 Day Homephone Spectacular

We are no just 2-days away from our Homephone spectacular which starts on Wednesday 26 February through to Friday 29 February. Are you ready for it?!

I am asking every branch to achieve a minimum of just 1 Homephone sale per day over the 3-days. By achieving this minimum number of Homephone sign-up's you will be making a major contribution to delivering our Quarter4 targets as well as supporting the 4-11 strategy, and don't forget the excellent remuneration that youn can now earn.

Key Actions - Between now and Wednesday
  • Make sure that you and your staff are fully familiar with the products
  • Make sure that you and your staff all practise and are familiar and confident with the conversations you will need to be having with your customers
  • Do you have a supply of leaflets and Applications - If not order some today or borrow them from your nearest branch.
  • Use the discussion board to obtain an emergency supply of forms from your colleagues
  • Is you Point of Sale correct?
  • Do not forget to us the t-shirts and balloons
  • Make sure that you enjoy and have fun withis campiagn

This is our number one product for this week - I am asking everyone to really get behind and support this campaign.

As an added incentive the Top branch who achieves a minimum of at least 10 sign-ups over the 3-days will receive £150 in vouchers.

I will be in branch throughout the 3-days so if you would like me to come to your branch and support you during this campaign, please let me know.

Once again, I am urging you all to really get behind this campaign and lets demonstrate once again just what a great team 4107 really is!

We are now well into Q4 activity - How is it going - Any good news stories you would like to share?

Current Performance
In order to achieve target - In the remaining 7 weeks we need to achieve

At present my main concerns are Travel Insurance & Travel Money. However, we have a great opportunity with Half - Term, Easter and the Great Rate Campaign. Please make sure that you are having those all important conversations. Make sure that you are mentioning to all customers about Travellers Cheques and Travel Insurance. Many customers will be booking their Summer Holidays, make sure that they see us as a provider of Travel Insurance.

Car Insurance
The £50 offer is back! - and we know that this is well liked by our customers and we have already seen a marked increase in quotes. Please make sure that you have the correct Point of Sales on display and make sure that you look out for the key customer signals, Keys , Car Magazines etc.

Telephony
We are by far the best performing area for Telephony sales - A huge Thanks for all your efforts. We are in distance of the flag, and we only need to achieve 10 Live accounts each week to achieve target. This is a great product and with BT increasing many of their core prices there has never been a better time to promote this great product with your customers.

And Finally!
We have achieved an awful lot this year, and many of you have delivered some excellent results particularly around our key focus products. I would really like us to finish the year on a high, and to set us up for 2008/09. Please give our key products a final push over the remaining few weeks of the year, and in doing so I have absolutely no doubt that we can achieve these targets. and demonstrate just how good Team4107 really is!

Update - 23 January 2008

Thanks to everyone that came along to Tuesdays evening training session. I do hope that you found the session to be useful and that you are now aware of the key role that you can all play in driving Quarter 4 activity. The next few months are a key time for the business as we work towards closing a significant income gap. This can only be achieved by you driving sales activity through your branch.

All branches should now have their own sales days planned and target activity set in order to drive sales. Good Luck, but above all else have Fun on the day!. If there is anything that I can do to support you through these sales days, then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

HYS - You should by now have received your Have Your Say Questionnaires, please make every effort to complete and return. Your views really are important in driving and shaping the business as part of our forward 4-11 plan.

Update - 15 January 2008

Week 42 Results were disappointing with us only achieving Target in Just Travel Money! - Lets hope this was still the quite post Christmas Period.

Over the coming weeks you will hear lots around Quarter 4 activity.In order for the business to achieve its full year Income targets many of the focus products now have had a stretch added to the full year target.

I will be holding January's Team meeting next week at the George Carnall Leisure Centre in Urmston, at which you will hear more around Quarter 4 activity. The key products for Quarter 4 are -

Travel Money
Travel Insurance
Credit Cards
Instant Access
Home Insurance
Travel Insurance
Special Delivery.

To support the drive towards Quarter 4 sales activity many of these products will be receiving additional promotional support including branch incentives - Look out for more information.

I am delighted to say that from February the £50 cash back for anyone taking out Car Insurance will be back. There will also be a further £50 for Home Insurance. For anyone taking out either just Contents or building cover then its £25. We know from past activity that this is incentive is very much liked by our customers. Look out for additional promotional materials and lets get those conversations going. Don't forget to use the customer referral icon on the Horizon system for capturing customers details for policies due for renewal more than 6 weeks.

The Great Rate on Travel Money is also making a comeback in February. This was a great success in October, and with Half-term and Easter within Quarter 4 this really is a great time to be promoting Travel Money through your branch.

Any ideas what Black Monday is? - January 14 is traditionally the day when Credit Card bills start landing on the mat and the realisation of what was spent at Christmas really hits home. The Post Office Credit card offers a very competitive deal for those customers wishing to shop around in order to transfer their balance to a cheaper card, and don't forget that our card also has the added benefit of 0% commission when used abroad - Again, a really great time to be talking to your customers.

I really do need your support to drive sales activity through your branches if we are to have any chance of achieving our Quarter 4 targets - Please support me to show what we can really achieve - Team 4107 Simply the best!

8 anuary 2008 - Update

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

We are now in the final quarter of this financial year and I would take this opportunity to thank you for all the hard work you and your team have put in so far this year - Your efforts really are making a difference.

We have had some great successes so far and our Financial services, travel and telephony products are going from strength to strength

Did you know!

- One in 50 cars on the UK roads is now insured by the Post Office!
- We have over one million financial services customers
- In the first month following the launch of Broadband we have signed up over 10,000 customers. One of our key competitors took over six months to reach this level!.

This just shows that we have great products that our customers are very interested in. Don't forget that the new remuneration package now means that you can earn more for selling these products.

Our next evening meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 22 January venue to be announced. At this event we will be looking at the key products for the final quarter of the year, and looking at how you can increase the level of key product sales through your branch by deploying simple techniques including how to run an effective sales day. I hope to see as many of you on the night. Please remember to let me know by phone or text if you are able to attend.
